Miss Missouri City Talent Categories

Talent Categories

 Approved Talent Categories  

 Contestants may perform one talent, up to 90 seconds 

  • Vocal - Contemporary, classical, Broadway, pop, jazz, worship, etc. Live singing only (no lip-syncing). Background tracks allowed without lead vocals 
  • Dance - Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary / lyrical, Tap, Hip-hop, Ballroom, Cultural / traditional dance. 
  • Instrumental - Piano, Violin, Guitar, Flute, Drums, Any orchestral or band instrument, Solo performance (accompaniment tracks allowed) 
  • Gymnastics / Acro / Baton / Twirling - Gymnastics routines, Acro or tumbling, Baton twirling, Rhythmic-style performances
    (Must be safe, controlled, and stage-appropriate) 
  • Dramatic Interpretation / Monologue - Spoken word, Dramatic monologue, Poetry, Storytelling
    (Must be memorized; no costumes that resemble props or scenery)
  • Creative or Unique Talents - Stand-up comedy, Magic (no dangerous elements), Mime, Cultural presentations, Original performance pieces
    Note: “Unique” talents must still fit Miss America’s standards of professionalism, safety, and stage appropriateness.

Ballroom dancing and cheerleading have been added as new talents for on stage competitions. These additions open up fantastic opportunities for participants to showcase their skills with a human prop!  Please note the following guidelines for these talents: Partner Requirements: If your performance involves a ballroom or cheerleading partner prop, they must be dressed in all black. Solo performances by partner props are not permitted.
